The remodelling and refurbishment of this grade II listed house was completed in 2016. The design creates a harmonious overall architectural composition, reinforcing the qualities of the original 1826 villa and enhancing the character and coherence of Orme Square.

The original villa had been very poorly served by later extensions and remodelling. These extensions loomed over the original building, eroding its plan form in an amorphous wrap of later construction.

The proposals replace these extensions with new wings to the north and east of the original villa. These wings are constructed to a lower height and at a reduced width, lending a finer proportion to the built elevations and serving to reveal the plan form of the original villa. A mansard roof is added to complement the villa below and underscore its primacy at the centre of the composition.

Internally, fluid contemporary living spaces are contrasted with domestic interiors within the listed building. A cantilever limestone stair is woven between new and old.
