We suggested an alternative approach with continuous low–rise perimeter blocks contrasted against slender tall building elements.
Greenwich Peninsula Riverside
In 2013 Pilbrow & Partners’ proposals for a five block masterplan to the east of the Greenwich Peninsula were selected following an invited competition. Our approach refined an earlier masterplan building on its clear urban block structure. The masterplan had suggested homogeneous linear bars of accommodation distributed across the quarter.
A focal point at the heart of the new district was proposed with a major new public space – Tidemill Square – diagonally framed by tall buildings. The Square offers elevated views down to the river’s edge and benefits from visual connections to richly landscaped garden spaces within the adjacent blocks.
