The Waterman winner of the Planning Award for Best Housing Scheme
07 06 2018
Fantastic results yesterday as The Waterman won the Planning Award in the category 'Best Housing Scheme'.
We are also very pleased our other shortlisted projects Walthamstow EMD Cinema and Tileyard Studios are highly commended in the categories ‘Best Use of Arts Culture or Sport in Placemaking' and 'Promoting Economic Growth’.
Walthamstow EMD Cinema
Pilbrow & Partners are working with Soho Theatre, Waltham Forest Council and Downing to restore this Grade II* listed super cinema to form the centrepiece of the borough’s cultural regeneration strategy. The restoration of the EMD will form the centerpiece of the wider, culturally-led regeneration initiative, promoted by Waltham Forest. It revitalises Hoe Street as a destination for a rich mix of entertainment, leisure and creative uses. This project enables Waltham Forest to further establish itself as a key player in London’s creative and cultural scene with a unique cultural identity and serves the Borough to become London’s first Borough of Culture in 2019. The project will create a destination for North East London and support the growing evening economy, alongside the night tube on the Victoria line.
Tileyard Studios
Tileyard Studios are a new force in London’s music industry, consisting of a cluster of 150 leading businesses in music performance, management, production and technology. Pilbrow & Partners have been commissioned to provide a masterplan to guide the future growth of Tileyard’s Kings Cross Estate. The new Tileyard Studios building is designed to accommodate specialist uses such as recording studios and event spaces for writing, workshops and performance.
