Pilbrow & Partners appointed to enhance collaborative workspaces at the Francis Crick Institute

08 05 2018

Pilbrow & Partners has been appointed to enhance the working environment for the Operations team at the Francis Crick Institute in King’s Cross, adapting spaces to encourage greater collaboration and knowledge sharing within, and between, departments.

Exchange of ideas is critical to the Francis Crick Institute’s mission. As such, the proposal submitted by Pilbrow & Partners improves connectivity between the first and second floor and broadens the functionality of the interior space by incorporating additional ‘quiet spaces’ to allow for focused and concentrated working.

Fred Pilbrow: “It’s a great pleasure to be working with the Francis Crick Institute again. Our proposals seek to enhance opportunities for open dialogue and cooperation and ensure future functionality by creating adaptable space that supports a rich, diverse and lively culture across the institute.”

The practice was invited to enter the competition following founding partner Fred Pilbrow’s previous involvement in the original design of the building which opened in 2016. To achieve the best possible solution, the team will work alongside movement consultants Space Syntax, lighting consultants Pritchard Themis, and landscape consultant Gillespies – each of whom are acknowledged leaders in their fields.
