After an invited competition, Pilbrow & Partners were appointed by Finchatton to redevelop a 1-hectare site on Bishops Avenue in North London.

The proposals restore the locally listed yet dilapidated 1920’s villa to form the centrepiece of a new residential community.

The redevelopment seeks to transform the site into a revived hidden gem and deliver luxury apartments set within a tranquil and sensitively landscaped garden to future residents. The development will provide 30 new homes to the London Borough of Barnet and seek to rejuvenate a neglected site within the Hampstead Garden Suburb Conservation Area.

Fostering a tangible sense of community and connection with nature, one of the key aspirations of the garden city concept, the proposals engender a balanced and socially driven connection between neighbours and their landscape. This is achieved by centring groupings of homes around a beautifully landscaped communal green space.

Materially, the proposed new-builds harmonise with the 1927 Oak Lodge that maintains a prominent position on the site but architecturally they present a contemporary juxtaposition to their precursor.
